Sustainable tourism at
Aldörrum - environment
Our holiday cottages and mini campsite are situated in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Brabant.
Here at Aldörrum, we understand the need to preserve our natural landscape and do our best to work in harmony with the environment. We aim to reduce the amount of resources that we use, particularly energy and water, and to reuse things, either within the business or by handing them on. With a little care we recycle a lot of our waste and ask our guests to help us with this. We re-use, reduce and re-cycle.
We believe it is in the guests interest to be aware of environmental issues, and seek to minimise the impact of our activities. We are committed to promoting the effective use of natural resources and reducing or eliminating environmental pollution at our site.

Environmental waste disposal to enable re-cycling
(glass, food and drinks cans, plastic, paper, kitchen and garden waste and remain waste).
Recycling saves raw materials and energy and prevents pollution. Every kilogram of waste that doesn't burn into the incenerator, saves five cents.
Wipes for personal hygiene (such as baby wipes, cleaning wipes) don't belong in the sewerage.
Turn in drugs to the pharmacy, don't flush them down the toilet. |
Solar panels
generating electricity.
Our roof of our house is perfect for solar panels. We placed a maximum of 3.360 watt. This is about enough for the energy consumption of 1 household.
The lighting at Aldörrum consists of energy saving lamps. Where possible, the lights automatically go off when you leave the room.
We also have bright ceilings and walls, so less light is needed. |

Solar water heating
for hot water.
Both the mini campsite as the holiday apartments make use of a solar water heater for hot water. To keep the temperature at 60 degrees, a gasholder or heat pump assists.

Heat pump
that draws heat (and cooling) from the ground.
The holiday cottages are heated with a heat pump. Such a system uses approximately 25% less energy than a gasholder.
Combined with a solar water heater, the heat pump provides also the hot water.
Heating with a heat pump has another advantage. The dust no longer swirls in the room. |
