Brabant is a real horse region. Several local stables offer horse riding on guided tours, catering from beginner to advanced. In Dutch, you call this a 'manege' (riding stables/riding school). If you want to go on your own there is a horseriding network.

If you are passionate about horses, you will agree that nothing quite beats the thrill of exploring on horseback. Plan a wonderful horse riding adventure through the beautiful scenery of De Peel by linking the nodes of the horse riding junction system. The equestrian trails are signposted and are ideal for horsetrekking. Some routes are suitable for carriage driving. This is indicated by the signs. If you want to bring your own horse, there are local livery stables where your horse can stay.

Enjoy the Ride

Enjoy the Ride is an initiative of KNHS. Enjoy the Ride is a collection of digital horseriding and wagondriving routes, maps and organized rides. All routes of Enjoy the Ride lie in the beautiful parts of the Netherlands. On the website you can download 2 routes for the Southeast fo Brabant, namely:

• Leende (27,7 km), the route starts from Leende through het Leenderbos en de Groote Heide along the border of the Netherlands and Belgium. Here lies the Achelse kluis, a nice resting place.
• Somerense heide (21,9 km), the route starts from Someren through forest with several meres. The largest one is the Keelven. In the middle lies De Pan with a large piece of open heathland.

Riding lessons - rente a horse

A horse ride through lovely, varied nature reserves in De Peel. If you haven't brought your own horse, there are horses waiting for you at manege het Zwarte Water of pensionstal De Kawei. You also can take riding lessons. Do you want to know everything about horses or training? Take a look at NHB in Deurne, the largest equestrian training centre in the Netherlands. On the compound of the Hippisch Centrum you can get aquainted with all facets of the horse and equestrian.
